Ramblin' On...

Dan and I Finally Rode the Entire Lower Wilson Ridge and a lot of FS Rd for a total of 33 miles

It was a big ride. A lot of deep woods Forest Service Road. Also a lot of elevation give and take and some challenging granny gear climbs as well as some hike a bike on a few section of Lower Wilson Ridge. It was about time I got around to doing this back yard ride. I'll definitely be doing it again, what a great work out with some incredible views.

It was a big loop with a lot of dirt road but beautiful views and not a single car. Grandfather Mtn looming overhead at several points.

Some nice ridge line riding once we finally got to Lower Wilson Ridge:

Along with the ridgeline riding came some steep hike a bike. This was a tough deep woods ride in spite of the long dirt road.

A little more pay than play but the views were incredible.

A good afterwork ride after almost 10 days off the bike.

Total time: 2:52 Moving time: 2:34 stopped time: 17 min
# of stops: 7 most of those were feeling around in the dark at the end of the ride and sliding down the steepest section of sinkhole. start time: 5:54pm end time: 8:46pm

BrothaMan Bobby was doing some business in Winston so we decided to meet up and do an evening ride in Wilson Creek Wilderness. He was going to be a little later so Johnny Calhoun and I decided to knock out the Big O first. On our climb up Craig Creek Rd, we met up with Brotha man for a sinkhole ride which was in great shape even in the dark.
Following shots are JC riding some of the Big O. This was the only stop we made until after we met up With Bob and then only one at dark to get oriented and come up with a safe night ride plan considering I didnt have a light. It ended up being all good,

We got a late start and ran of of light but Bob had a good light, Johnny had a not so bright one and I was in the dark. It was all good up until full dark. Post dusk and at full on dark, I just tried to stay out in front of Bob and he had enough light for both of us.

I wanted to get some shots of Adam Secrest dropping Gorilla or Sunshine but I didnt portage fast enough to see him fire up the drops. He paddled down to Sunshine with us then he hiked back up to Boof or Consequences and did it all again for a total of three runs. He was getting ready for Jerry's Baddle.

After the Green Run I did an exploration ten mile there and back up MTB ride to the Pisgah Black Mtn. The ride was complete with a flat tire. The views were pretty awesome but I was focused on the climb. With the time change there should be plenty of day light for some good evening rides this week.

Friday Evening: No Pics, No Map, No GPS, MTB Ride

Short afterwork ride with Chris and Gerhard. An abbreviated Big O. Chris' first time out there and he did great. He's really steppin' it up fast. I'm looking forward to my next afterwork ride with these guys, hopefully Doug will be able to make it next time. The conti MTB Team!

Sunday: Five Runs on Wilson Creek at -3". It snowed on and off all day.

I got to the river around 8:30. One car drove up as I was paddling away from the put in. My first run was a solo. I didnt see anyone on the river. The next two shots were taken close to the end of #1. It snowed on and off all day.
