August trips to the Green
I made a few trips to the Green during August and managed 2 runs in one day two times. It is good to be paddling the Green more often this summer. I had not gone this many times in one season since before I dislocated my shoulder there several years ago. It's partly due to the low water every where else but good to be feeling comfortable out on the Narrows again.
Layla and I carpooled over this trip and met up with Johnny Calhoun. Nye also joined us for the first run.

August Stuff: Some bike rides, Sinkhole & Big O, Rock Jock...
Took a day off from work and did a hike with Felix. I had the idea of bringing my Guit-fiddle and playing up on the rim of the gorge. It fit in my Kelty bag and was a blast.
Chillin' & pickin'
Cooling off
I started with Sinkhole and rode part of the trail I had not been on. I've always ridden or hike-a-biked down the steep eroded section right after the sink hole but this time I followed the trail past the hole and ended up on the sweet down hill section below, a very nice find.

Next up was a hike along the Black Mtn Crest Trail, down Big Tom Gap Trail to Buncombe Horse Range to Commisary Ridge then back up the Mt Mitchell Trail for a great loop.

The rain clouds were moving in fast but they also moved out fast. It was a good day.
