Post Work Fun up 181

Gaston called just before I was about to crank up the briggs & straton with a suggestion of some self propelled 2 wheel fun. The grass needs to grow a little bit more anyway.

Gastons second run at the first berm. The photographer was sleeping on the job the first one.
Layla at the first berm. My 2nd run on the 1st berm.
Berm # 3:
I needed more speed:
This is a little better: Excellent choice of trails for the weather at hand. Two days in a row up 181 where it didnt start raining until it was time to pack up the bikes. Most appreciated turn of events!
Dupont tomorrow, Wilson Creek Wilderness Sunday.

Captain Thurmond Challenge, here and gone, til next year

What a great weekend for a race. Clara, Noel, and Starla were there to support me and the weather couldnt have been better. Nice campfire shot of Clara Ann. The MacDaddy of a tent. I think there is an echo in there.
Sitting around with the Z bros right before the race.
The Superlight did great. There it is standing up against the platform. Everyone running to their bikes at the LeMans start. Here is a shot of me throwing my leg over the orange bike. Great photo Clara Ann!
Across the bridge and into the woods.
The mtn bike trail was fast and fun. River level was good and Calebs Overflow didnt leak - dude, thanks for the loaner. The run was easier and shorter than last year. Here is a shot of me coming up to the finish line.
I got 2nd in Mens Sport class - 2 better than I did last year. At the prize table.
More family photos at the campsite. We had one platform/deck to set the tent up on and one just to lounge on.
At the center of Fayetteville WV waiting for Dad.
A shot of us visiting with Aunt Evelyn.

Johnny Calhoun is on his way out west for the Great Divide Race. Good Luck JC.

Guerrilla Mountain Biking Tuesday evening

Glen Alpine Guerrilla Adventures
Tuesday afternoon Gaston and I went on foray into local dirt roads and along power lines to link up some fun,. fast, rolling riding that will be ridden again. Sorry no photos, I forgot the camera. Some of the highlights: Fast ripping downhills with some sweet jumps, happened upon a historic graveyard from the early 1800s, a distressed humming bird, one crunch of a climb. Overall, just what I needed this close to Cptn Thurmond Tri: not too much but enough. Thanks Gaston.
Planning on paddling a Perception Corsica Overflow in the boating leg. I just borrowed it from Caleb on Monday. Thanks Caleb.

Saturday 181 Solo Ride & met up with some Charlotte Riders

Got a good ride in the Wilson Creek wilderness area today.
Parked at Shady Point and pedaled up to Ginger Cake Acres/RBR/GTP/C Mtn/RC/Falls/ more RC/more Falls/WC/SH/back up 181 to Shady Point. Sweet!
The weather was so nice and the water was perfect temperature, I had to go swimin' . Another shameful self photo: Ran into this fellow on the way up to Sinkhole:
Tried to prod him off the trail and he just wanted to get nasty
Some guys from Charlotte havin' fun on some of the downhill. Nice job guys. Post ride, post clean up & lubed Superlight back at Shady Point. It was a good day. James was good enough to let me in the store and made some adjustments even though it was past closing time. Thanks man your a life saver! One week, one day and counting to Cptn Thurmond!
