Tuesday afternoon MTB

Noel and I dropped by Table Rock Cycles first thing in the morning but found out that Chris doesnt open until noon. We resorted to plan b which was to head to Clarks Tire in Hickory. I found a good deal on a shirt, bought some lube and a sram quick link. The guy up there checked out my derailleur hanger and tweaked it a little bit. I should have test ridden it around the parking lot but didint try it out til I got back to Glen Alpine and it was not shifting well at all. I got Noel packed up and we headed back down town Morganton to Chris' shop. He dialed it in and greased my shifter cable which was in bad need of the attention and I was on my way. Noel and I met Clara at Tommys had a nice late lunch and soon enough I was on my way up Hwy 181. By the time I climbed up to the Knob, the sun was staring me straight in the face. I took a few shots but it was hard to make out Table Rock with the sun right behind it.

Wilson Creek way down there:

After the climb, there wasnt enough daylight to ride SH so I rode back up to the knob and got a few shots with dusk lighting:
I could see Table Rock much better this time around:

Monday Hwy 181 Tour

I parked at Shady Point and climbed up 181. It was good to be at the lookout after so many miles of pedaling up hill. Overcast and hazy but some very nice views.

This first steep drop on the 2nd half of Raspberry, was leafy and moist enough to be much harder than the drought conditions I have become accustomed to. I finally managed to roll over it on my 4th try. I made the big dip and up the other side but stepped off at the next steep drop off - too leafy moist and rocky for me going solo today.Hornets nest at Rock & Roll:

After a little scramble/climb, taking a little sandwich break on the "Big Rocks":

The views/fall colors from Ripshin were exceptional in spite of not being able to see Grandfather Mtn.

A first for me: A shoe insole pull out. I had to use my tire pry tool to get it back in.

The trail leaf color forced me to stop here for another trail shot.

Monday evening, Lake James Kayak tour

A cold has been kickin' my butt since last Thursday and continues to knock me into the dirt. I managed to get out and paddle around the Linville side of Lake James late in the afternoon. After dark, Clara and Starla came out and brought some KFC for an evening picnic on the dock. Good times...
The clouds below remind me of the Summer Haze Tour. What a blast that was. I've got to get some Slightly Stupid music. I know how their name sounds but those guys are great!

With all the lights back at the boat ramp / dock, I was able to paddle past dark.I love the reflection of the lights on the Perception logo.
