North Fork of the French Broad & DuPont hike

North Fork of the French Broad was a little low but a lot of fun. It was good to be back on some natural flow.
A little break between the first and second run. An excellent crew to paddle with: Onto DuPont.
Steven, Chris and Jared at the falls.
Nice view from the trail:

Steven, thanks for the hike. Those are some big drops!

Finally A Rainy Day In Wilson Creek Wilderness

First overlook off of the long climb:
Table Rock is almost hidden in the clouds:

Light rain on and off the entire ride. There was never any heavy rainfall. The trails were in good shape - very few puddles had developed - hopefully a lot more rain this evening. This was the first ride I've done this season where I needed a jacket. I almost put on my LM leg warmers.
I parked at lower Upper Creek. Instead of riding up 181 and risking someone skidding into me on the wet pavement, I decided to climb 982 to 198, do the Chestnut Mtn loop that the Boone guys told me about which drops back out onto 198, climb back up and ride Raidercamp then a there and back to Upper Harper Creek Falls overlook, cross over main Harper Creek and check out the Harper Creek Falls, ride 277 out to Wilson Creek, back up and over 982 to lower Upper Creek.
The top of Raidercamp.
The trail to the top of Chestnut Mtn. was pretty thick and overgrown:
Steep climb to hike a bike.
Interesting structures at the top of Chestnut.
1932A sea of clouds:
Thanks to whoever cut this tree out on Raidercamp. It was a big job.
Nice colors at Upper Harper Creek Falls:

Amos' Epics

Another 181 Dusk Ride

I got up there at about 4:30, roughly an hour earlier than on Wednesday. It had rained during the day and I waited through the day to see if it was going to clear up or thunderstorm. It ended up just being a wet day but not much precipatation, it didnt rain at all during the ride and had not rained much earlier as the trails were not very wet at all.
Rock & Roll. Plenty of big rocks and more rolling than most of the other trails close by which are more long uphills and long down hills. Barkhouse:
The colors were spectacular in this one little section of the trail.
Ripshin Ridge: Hedleys:One of my favorite trails. With the extra time I was able to do the entire Hedleys and drop out at the Upper Creek campsite. It was getting dark by the time I made it up to 181 from Upper Creek.
By the time I got back to the car it was dark. Well worth the long climb back up Hwy 181.
